At home, the refrigerator is an important appliance. At a workplace where they are used constantly to store food, drinks and ingredients, refrigerators are the most vital devices that the business has and the importance of properly looking after them can not be overstated.
Most businesses use a chiller display fridge because it can both keep the items that you hold inside it cool and show the customer exactly what you have at your disposal without having to constantly open the door or keep checking. An unforeseen benefit of these types of fridges however would have to be that in the event of a spill or any other type of visible accident, you can quickly react, whereas the standard fridges would obstruct your view of the products. This is actually a very useful feature because any sort of leak at such temperatures can harden very fast, which can make it very difficult to clean after even a short while.
Because of their function of storing edible items, if left untended for any amount of time, any fridge can become a breeding ground for all sorts of mold and bacteria in a frighteningly small amount of time. This means that regularly scheduled cleaning is the best way to keep this from happening, and as such should be done at least once every week.
When cleaning a chiller display fridge, the most important thing to remember is to never use any sorts of cleaning chemicals while there are still products inside. Always remove the contents of the fridge first, and after you have finished, also remember to air it out until you can’t detect any sort of smell or residue still lingering inside. The good news is that since the see through front door is made of glass it is pretty easy to clean, and all you have to do is the same thing you would to your windows at home.
Another thing to watch out for is the temperature your fridge is set to. If the temperature is set too warm, it will shorten the shelf life of the products and cause them to spoil, which will in turn cause bacteria to spread more easily and quickly. If the temperature is set too cold then all of the products will freeze and that is not what that particular appliance is for, and depending on what you have stored inside some items might not be able to take the freezer-like conditions either.
Though this may seem difficult, there are only two things you really need to be able to do to properly maintain your fridge. One, use your senses and look for or sniff out any products that might seem too ripe for your liking and remove them (looking at the expiration date also works). And two, properly clean out your refrigerator as often as you can.
