It’s 2018 and we’re still discussing aromatherapy; what gives? This is the reaction of many people I’ve interacted with and discussed the benefits essential oils have brought into my life. I’m aware not everyone believes in the effects, but let me just say, I have been there, done that, and now after reaping the benefits, I’m here to say otherwise.
Though we don’t use them nearly as much as they did in the ancient times, we should. Essential oils have improved my living, helped me control the beast called daily stress, and even given me the chance to have my personalized scent without having to buy perfumes.
I just take a shower, apply my DoTerra Whisper on the pulse points, like the neckline and wrists, let it work its magic blending the mix of vanilla, cocoa, ylang ylang, jasmine, cinnamon, patchouli and coconut oil aroma with my body chemistry, and go about my day.
Using a variety of oils over the years, I’ve come to understand the importance of choosing organic over synthetic, so I pay attention to the ingredients more than I did before, getting to know the way they were grown, harvested and distilled prior to the purchase. If chemical cosmetics is bad, what makes chemical essential oils any different?
Along with using DoTerra Whisper and other essential oils as perfume, I’ve also used them as air fresheners, air purifiers, and the ingredients in setting relaxing ambiance with the help of vaporizers.
Much to my surprise, they strengthened my immune system, and from being the person who was catching a cold every cold season, I’m happy to say ever since I welcomed them in my life I’ve forgotten what having a cold was like. Where there’s weakened immunity, there are allergies… well, not when you’re using organic essential oils!
Adding to the amazement, my skin looks and feels healthy after making this change so there are no more clogged pores or acne as before, and I happen to wake up with a natural glow, no make up needed! Honestly, who doesn’t want to wake up like that?
They’ve also proven to be efficient with repelling insects, alleviating itching of bug bites, curbing away mould, as for relaxation, other than relieving headaches and providing pain relief to muscles and joints, they either keep my mind sharp (e.g. peppermint) or prepare me for a good sleep (e.g. lavender).
Apart from hydrating my skin after showers, sometimes I use them as hydration for my hair as well and I have to say split ends are no longer an issue. I’m enjoying my scented addiction!
